What we believe at Gospel Tabernacle about Jesus, the Bible, and the Church

Our Beliefs

THE BIBLE

We believe that the Bible is absolute Truth, the inspired Word of God. It is accurate, authoritative, and applicable to our everyday lives.

2 Timothy 3:16 | John 1:1 | John 1:14 | Matthew 24:35

GOD

We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things, and manifests Himself as three distinct parts but yet one God: God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.

Deuteronomy 6:4 | Genesis 1:1 | Matthew 28:19 | Ephesians 4:6 | Matthew 16:16 | John 4:24 | 1 John 4:8 | Psalm 99:9

MAN

We believe that man was created in the image of God and was designed to be in loving relationship with God. We believe that because of man’s sinful disobedience, mankind was separated from the loving intimacy that God intended. We believe that mankind’s greatest and deepest need is to be forgiven of sin and restored back into right relationship with God and thus fulfill his ultimate purpose which is to worship God and fully enjoy Him forever.

Genesis 1:27 | Romans 3:23 | 1 John 1:9

THE VIRGIN BIRTH

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, born of a virgin, and conceived of the Holy Spirit. Without the virgin birth, Jesus would have been like any other man, tainted with sin and incapable of saving mankind.

Matthew 1:23

SALVATION THROUGH JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus is the only one who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place. He was buried, and rose to life again to prove His victory over sin and death and empower us for life. We believe that salvation comes through the repentance of our sins, and by believing in the person and work of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus is coming back again as He promised.

John 14:6 | 2 Corinthians 5:21 | Luke 24:7 | Romans 10:9 | Ephesians 2:8 | 1 Thessalonians 4:16

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit enters the life of a person when they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We believe in the supernatural ministry of the Holy Spirit, including the nine gifts of the Spirit. We believe that the Holy Spirit empowers believers to live holy and effective lives resulting in the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit. We also believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

ACTS 2:38 | JOHN 14:26 | 1 CORINTHIANS 12:8-10 | GALATIANS 5:22-23 | ACTS 2:4

WATER BAPTISM

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and a fresh start with God, we must repent of our sins, and be baptized by emersion in water, in the name of Jesus Christ. We believe it is through water baptism that our sins are washed away and we are forgiven by God. Jesus Himself was baptized, and he commanded His disciples to do likewise.

Acts 2:38 | acts 10:48 | Matthew 3:16

THE CHURCH

We believe God has placed within every Christian unique gifts and talents that are to be used to bless others in the Body of Christ. We believe that the church is called to gather together regularly for worship, teaching, prayer, and communion. We believe that as the church we are to live a Godly lifestyle. We believe that the church exists to continue the work of Jesus by declaring the gospel, making disciples, and demonstrating God's love to the world.

EPHESIANS 4:11-12 | PSALM 35:18 | PSALM 107:32 | James 5:16 | 1 corinthians 11:26 | Romans 12:1-2 | Mark 16:15

ETERNITY

We believe that heaven is the eternal destination for all people who have placed their faith and hope in the person and work of Jesus Christ. We believe that a literal hell is the eternal destination for those who have rejected Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We believe that the day is coming when God will judge both the living and the dead.

1 Peter 1:3-5 | 2 Corinthians 5:10
